What fun it would be to see seed trays flying through the air, not to mention all the f-words flying around. It'd be a programme I'd watch. ;-)

Land below sea level? Shocking! Who's ever heard of such a thing? ;-)

Fun post Nigel, please write many more and they can be as long as you want. I can't think of anything intelligent to say, because it's been a stressful week, but I was keen to express my appreciation.Victoria Summerleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05055381807236106596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849167564811493528.post-26749510515317844202009-01-31T19:34:00.000+00:002009-01-31T19:34:00.000+00:00That all sounds very exciting indeed. He pointed out that, while we are happy to throw out cut flowers when they begin to droop, we are strangely reluctant to give up on plants that don't thrive or go beyond their 'grow-by' date. Why? If a plant isn't 'working' - dig it up and get another one.

While this makes perfect sense (even though it seems out of kilter with his usual view on things) I also think it's one of the most difficult pieces of advice to follow.

LucyLucy Corrander Now in Halifax!https://www.blogger.com/profile/14685242329129914772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849167564811493528.post-80061170278120595662009-01-29T09:30:00.000+00:002009-01-29T09:30:00.000+00:00Good morning, inspired by your beautiful picture N...Good morning, inspired by your beautiful picture Nigel, I’m now the proud owner of a seed packet of Beta vulgaris ‘Rhubarb Chard’. I have grown Mangold before and didn’t really like the taste, it was a kind of metallic taste I didn’t like if I remember correctly. I will however have another go. It doesn’t matter if I don’t like the taste this time my ambition is to get something wonderful in colour to look at next winter instead of all greyish stuff I have in my garden now.

TyraTYRA Hallsénius Lindhehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04111758517855490413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849167564811493528.post-70672129234537568812009-01-27T08:28:00.000+00:002009-01-27T08:28:00.000+00:00I can never mention trips to Betty's in Harrogate ...I can never mention trips to Betty's in Harrogate or York without resorting to a Frank Spencer impression. So I will add to that by saying that my Gran worked for Betty's for years in the days of yore and was bussed out from Leeds to Harrogate, York or whatever branch staff were needed. She once told me a story about how one of her fellow waitresses was so fed up with a customer she rinsed out her false teeth in his tea! (This was many years ago and I'm sure would never happen in these days of Health and Safety legislation whatever.)Arabella Sockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10936438011119860497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849167564811493528.post-5455399761738795122009-01-26T20:03:00.000+00:002009-01-26T20:03:00.000+00:00I don't know about "turning the first sod" but I s...I don't know about "turning the first sod" but I seem to recall some muttering about "turning out the old sod" at some point!
Lovely post, as always, Nigel.
